School Governance

What is the Local Tier Board

Each school in the trust has a Local Tier Board. This is a small group of people who build strong links with members of the community to increase and deepen the amount of challenge trust schools receive.

The LTB is made up of the following:

  • A professional from within the trust – senior leader or member of the central team.
  • A parent – this post requires nomination and to be voted in.
  • A member of the community.

Members have 3 core functions:

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of education
  • Monitor and evaluate safeguarding and health & safety within school
  • Report back the local board’s evaluation to the Board of Trustees who hold school leaders to account. Meetings take place termly and are clerked and minuted by a governance professional, with minutes provided to the Board of Trustees.

Longhill Primary Academy Tier Board members:

  • Mr P Johnson, Head of Nafferton Primary School, community member.
  • Miss J Lister, parent member.
  • Mr D Reacher, Associate Assistant Headteacher of Marvell College.
